Boop is proud to be tackling beauty's waste problem by participating in the first Great British Beauty Clean Up.
This is a cross-industry campaign launched by The British Beauty Council's Sustainable Beauty Coalition to help reduce waste, champion refill solutions and recycle your beauty empties. Start collecting your beauty empties now, learn how to recycle them at home and visit one of the in-store recycling points to reduce your impact and help build a more sustainable beauty industry.
Our Mission as a Brand
Boop was founded to help create a more sustainable beauty industry. Our founder, Yasmine, was working in the beauty industry when she realised countless perfect products are destroyed each year (approximately $4.8 billion worth). Why? Sometimes the products don’t look 'perfect' on the outside, other times brands have overproduced, discontinued items, or reformulated them. The luxury beauty industry didn't have an outlet to channel these products into - that's when Boop was born.
Our mission is simple. We want to exhaust every opportunity to get products into customers hands and keep them out of landfill. As of 19th February 2025, we have helped rescue 10,435.927 kg from destruction - and counting!
With sustainability as our ethos, we are delighted to partner with The Sustainable Beauty Coalition to share resources to help you understand how to reduce, refill and recycle your beauty empties.
Reduce Waste & Recycle
Items which are hard to recycle and should be taken to a specialist take-back scheme typically include beauty products made of composite materials (make up palettes, compacts, lipsticks) or items made from non recyclable materials (mascaras, lotion pumps, make up brushes).
To combat packaging waste, The Sustainable Beauty Coalition has launched a map to inform consumers where they can return and recycle their beauty empties. The campaign will also educate customers on what needs to be taken to a 'take-back' scheme (think of hard-to-recycle beauty packaging, like compacts or pumps) and what can be placed in household recycling. Find your nearest take back scheme by visiting the British Beauty Council's directory: https://britishbeautycouncil.com/recycling-points/
