The Trends Paving the Way for Sustainable Beauty in 2025
Sustainable beauty in 2025 will no longer be a marketing buzz word. It’ll be about conscious consumerism: looking good while making considered choices for the planet.
Here’s the not-so-pretty truth: the beauty industry churns out over 120 billion units of packaging a year, most of which ends up in landfills. Why? Overproduction, discontinued items, formula changes, customer returns (even unopened!) or minor imperfections (think wonky labels and missing boxes). We’re over it. That’s why our founder, Yasmine, left her job at an international beauty group to start Boop Beauty - as a way to keep beauty out of landfill and get them into your hands at unbeatable prices. Because it’s what’s on the inside that counts.
Here’s our round up of the 4 biggest trends taking over sustainable beauty in 2025:
1. Refillable Beauty
2024 saw brands embracing less virgin packaging and giving up aesthetic containers for sleek and practical refill options.
Re-stock with some of our refills available now:
Gucci Cushion de Beuté Foundation Refill
With SPF 22 and anti-pollution protection, this foundation delivers radiant, buildable coverage while hydrating with Glycol, Glycerin, and Black Rose Oil. Vegan and refillable, it’s a sustainable beauty product that’s both glowing and green!
Refill, reuse, and rethink luxury with YSL Libre, YSL Intense for Men, and Lancôme Idôle EDP refills. These signature scents now come with a planet-friendly twist - less waste, same bold fragrance. Indulge in your favourite notes while embracing sustainable beauty products that reduce packaging waste.
2. Low-Waste Packaging
The past few years have kept brands busy, coming up with innovative ways to make their packaging more environmentally friendly. We’ve seen huge leaps, from biodegradable and recyclable packaging to upcycled materials to create tubes and bottles.
Here are some of our favourite brands prioritising their sustainable packaging:
ESPA have been working hard to make their packaging recyclable, reusable or refillable. They even have a RecycleMe scheme to help customers easily recycle their beauty empties!
This creamy balm turns into a deep-cleansing polish, gently exfoliating while moisturizing for a radiant glow. Infused with Ylang Ylang, Ginger, and Vetiver, it soothes skin and senses - a sustainable beauty product that pampers while protecting the planet.
Omorovicza have re-worked their packaging to house their products in 100% recyclable glass containers, lids made with 50% post-consumer recycled plastic and boxes crafted from recycled paper stock or non-paper card.
Infused with Hungary's mineral-rich thermal water, Omorovicza’s body cleanser hydrates while removing impurities. With a formulation enriched with natural ingredients and gentle surfactants, indulge in a rich lather without stripping your skin’s natural oils.
3. Embracing Imperfect Beauty
With more and more consumers eager to save money and buy second hand items, it’s no wonder marketplace selling has taken off! And now most marketplaces allow users to sell their unwanted, unopened beauty products. Sure, they might not be pristine and store fresh, but we all know it’s what’s on the inside that counts.
But marketplace selling comes with a few risks: you can’t always be sure how the seller has stored the product or how old it is - or if it’s the real thing. Buyer beware. But at Boop Beauty, we work directly with brands, retailers and authorised distributors - and we run our own quality control checks - to ensure items are in date, unopened and authentic. The best bit? You get shop-fresh products at discounted prices.
Here are some of our favourite perfectly imperfect products:
Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Cream
A backstage secret turned must-have, this rich formula hydrates, plumps, and revives dull skin. Packed with peptides, hyaluronic acid, and vitamins, it’s glow magic in a jar.
Sol de Janerio - Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
Get that Brazilian glow with this fast-absorbing, skin-smoothing cream. Caffeine-rich guaraná and ultra-nourishing butters tighten and hydrate, while the salted caramel & pistachio scent is addictive.
Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara
Lashes to the extreme. This mascara delivers bold volume, lift, and length for a false-lash effect. The lightweight formula and oversized brush work magic.
4. Personalised Beauty
A trend we spotted quietly creeping into the beauty industry in 2023 will make waves this year. More brands are offering personalised solutions - from haircare and skincare to make up shades, personalised routines and one-of-a-kind lipsticks. And some brands have fully embraced the personalisation of beauty by only producing customised products! The good news? Personalised beauty cuts out unnecessary waste by giving you what you want. We’re excited to see where this goes.
